Nostalgia: Farnborough Airshow 1959 (In Colour)

The Farnborough International Airshow is one of the world’s largest aerospace exhibitions and aerial displays. It  is a week-long event that combines an important trade exhibition for the aircraft and defence industries with a public airshow. The event is held in mid-July in even-numbered years at Farnborough Airport in Hampshire, England. The first five days (Monday to Friday) are dedicated only to trade, with the final two days open to the public.

The airshow is an important event in the international aerospace and defence industry calendar, providing an opportunity to show off and demonstrate civilian and military aircraft to potential clients and investors. The show is also used for the announcement of new developments and orders, and to gain media coverage.

Someone uploaded a fascinating British Movieone newsreel video of the Farnborough Airshow during 1959 and in colour! It is an interesting look at the planes, vehicles, and fashion of the people during that time. Thanks to spottydog4477 for uploading this great piece of Farnborough nostalgia on Youtube.
